Hey there!
I’ll save my verbosity for my other newsletters (which you can read here and here), and will try to keep this one brief and to-the-point. (You’re welcome!)
NEW ON THE SITE
Latest additions to the tune videos on my website are Sandy River from Marcus Martin (AEAC#) and Rocky Pallet from The Skillet Lickers (GDAE - key of C).
And I’ve also made it possible to sort the tunes by key as well as by tuning!
NEW ON THE CALENDAR
Fresh summertime dates in NY, PA, VT, and MA!
SUMMER AWAY FROM COACHING
I have had some really delightful one-on-one fiddle coaching sessions lately. What endearingly curious geeks you people are! But we’re approaching the time of year when Kieran and I leave Nashville and hide out in the Adirondacks for the summer. So I won’t be scheduling any online teaching again until probably mid-September.
FIDDLE FUN
In my last note I included a poll, from which it is clear that a lot of you want listening recommendations and learning resources. Conveniently, good listening makes for good learning!
Here are a couple cool recordings I would point you toward at the moment:
Pretty much anything at all from the Field Recorders’ Collective, but I just picked up this Luther Davis album and I’m psyched to dig into it.
LASTLY
I recently enjoyed a glorious tour through Ireland as accompanist (fiddle/viola/voice) to my pal Joachim Cooder. It’s going to take me a little while to find words for some of the magic that occurred during that trip (one bit of it is pictured above), but when I do I’ll put the full rundown in my other newsletter.
Thanks so much for reading, and please share this note with any fiddle-friends you think might dig it.
Happy geeking!

PS: I got a question about whether there’s a fee for this newsletter, so let me clarify: I do not charge for access to this email newsletter!
But if you want to support me otherwise, there are options! Being a paid subscriber to my tune videos is massively helpful. And if you want to give more, you can become a supporter on my Ko-fi page — where you can also pick up various silly merch items.
